IOWA BANKERS ASSOCIATION RENEWS IDENTITY THEFT 911 SERVICES
Johnson, Iowa (July 15, 2010)
The Iowa Bankers Association (IBA), in conjunction with its insurance affiliate Iowa Bankers Insurance & Services, Inc., is continuing efforts to provide Iowa banks and their customers with better protection against identity theft and data breaches. The IBA is continuing its partnership with Identity Theft 911, a leading identity management and data breach resolution services provider, to provide IBA members with access to a variety of services, including LifeStages Identity Management, Data Breach services, Total 911 and credit monitoring products.
The renewed agreement comes at a critical time when identity theft is the fastest-growing crime in the United States. Even though Iowa only ranks 47th among states with the highest per capita rate of reported identity theft complaints, over 8.5 million people have had their identities compromised each of the last four years in the United States.
“The services offered by Identity Theft 911 compliment the ‘Red Flag’ rules our banks are now required to comply with and offers an invaluable service to both the banks and their respective customers,” said IBA President and CEO John Sorensen. “By assigning a fraud specialist to each bank customer affected by identity theft, Identity Theft 911 provides a service that identifies, mitigates and stops the identity theft, and then restores the customer’s identity to its original state. This is a service every financial institution should consider.”
“Millions of American businesses must comply with a patchwork of data protection and breach notification laws in nearly 50 jurisdictions, as well as the FTC’s Red Flag Rules, which are scheduled to go into effect at the end of the year,” said Adam Levin, chairman and founder of Identity Theft 911 and former Director of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
“These services are not only critical to protecting consumers, but also essential to the compliance obligations of every business,” Levin said. “A failure to comply has potentially dire consequences: loss of reputation, loss of consumer trust, loss of partner confidence and potentially extinction-level financial consequences”.
Identity Theft 911 specialists provide white-glove services to victims from the initial call for help until the case is resolved. Their expertise covers a range of issues, from true identity theft to account takeovers and protective measures during every stage of a person’s life. They work one-on-one with victims and are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week until resolution is complete.
